Back on October 12th, I was a guest on Open Source Radio talking about Photography 2.0. Hosted by Chris Lydon, my fellow guest were Keith Jenkins (picture editor at The Washington Post) and Fred Ritchin (picture editor at The New York Times 1978-82).
There’s an MP3 of the broadcast now available. I must confess that I haven’t been able to bring myself to listen to it. Not that it was horrific. Keith is a lovely fellow, someone who I would definitely like to sit down over coffee with. Mr. Ritchin? Not so much.
I’m very proud of myself in that I didn’t scream out that Flickr is so fucking fantastic because it takes the power out of the hands of old white guys (like him) and puts it into our hands where we can experience the world unmediated by those who feel like they know what’s best for us (thank you very much).
Years ago, while living in New York, I passed a man in the East Village holding the brightest pink toy poodle I had ever seen (scratch that — the only pink poodle I’d ever seen), and I knew that given the opportunity, I too would dye a dog pink. Yes. It’s evil and wrong, but so incredibly fan-tab-u-lous!
If you watched the season premiere of the The Dog Whisperer a couple of nights ago, you might have enjoyed the last segment “Not So Pretty in Pink” in which a violently pink Maltese named Little Miss Kisses met her match in Cesar.
