two for the tea

I’ve published a wall calendar for 2007, now available at CafePress: A Year in the Tea Garden. Twelve of my favourite photographs from the last year celebrating the beauty of Golden Gate Park’s Japanese Tea Garden.

Robert Scoble, Thomas Hawk and I spent a couple of hours on Tuesday morning shooting an upcoming "Photowalking" episode for the Scoble Show. Robert tells me that the episode will be aired in December. Stay tuned.

Some love, others loathe. Until quite recently, I was in the camp of the latter and not the former. One would think that a good Canadian girl would be at one with what is pretty much our National beverage. It never appealed, that is until quite recently.

Current crackpot thinking is that the irradiation and death of my thyroid last year has somehow changed the chemistry of my taste buds. This isn’t to say that I’m down with the stinky cheese, but I do enjoy a nice cold pale ale. Or two.

Otherwise, can’t stop singing “Peanut Butter Jelly Time.”

– The new dose of my Levoxyl is a far more pleasing shade of blue than the previous turquoise tablets. Oh, for life’s small pleasures.

– Avoid the double front loading washing far right at Doug’s Suds. A load of our towels were stuck in the wash cycle for two and a half hours.

Social niceties probably decree that I shouldn’t talk about a women’s restroom of my recent experience. I’m somewhat rusty on what secrets of the sisterhood I promised to keep at puberty, but I don’t think that discussing bizarre bathroom behaviour is prohibited.

I seriously considered creating and posting the following:

“Sisters of the __ floor. Thank you for keeping in mind that many women use this restroom throughout the day. Please do your best to tidy up the stall when you’re done.”

camel day

It’s the Ides of November or more importantly, NaBloPoMo hump day. In fact, given that it’s Wednesday, it’s double hump day.

Hump. I can’t read the word hump without beginning to hum Alice the Camel (a curse of my summers spent as a camp counselor — if you call, I’ll sing it to you):

Alice the camel has five humps.
Alice the camel has five humps.
Alice the camel has five humps.
So go, Alice, go boom boom boom!
