Day 12 of Polaroid 366 found me crouching on my knees just off Haight Street. Given my experience on Market Street, I’m always more careful to ensure I’m not kneeling down into something stinky (like urine — that was a fun day, not).

Who knew that Ronald McDonald lived in Cole Valley? I think he’s redecorating.

george rocks!

20080110.jpg

My fellow San Franciscans are never one to bottle up their feelings. I shouldn’t have been surprised that it would be any different when I commuted to work yesterday. Course, the fact that I was carrying a large slab chocolate cake decorated with bright blue flowers might have changed the odds somewhat.

In an effort to branch out from the usual sweet sentiment of “happy birthday,” I went a little crazy with “George rocks!” This was written on the cake by the lovely woman at Safeway in white icing in somewhat large script across the top of the cake.
Happy, positive, no?

Apparently, by using the word “rocks” I was inviting the devil into the cake. Additionally, “God bless George” would have been more suitable wording. All this was shared by a fellow commuter from about fifteen feet away. On a somewhat crowded car.

For what it’s worth, I very much enjoyed my slice of cake, devil or not.
