My husband has a way with words

The short story is that we’ve found a new apartment.

The long story is that we love Cole Valley neighbourhood, but we’re too near the epicenter to maintain our sanity and happiness. Derek has written about his collection of Last Straws. That said, here’s my list of things that I will miss:

• Knowing my neighbours. I don’t think I’ve known so many of the people that I live around since I left home fromUniversity. This was particularly evident when we lost Tigger. I still have the condolence card that many of our friends signed.
• The dog park. I love being able to look out our living room window to watch the merry gamboling.
• Our proximity to a block of good food: Zazie, Say Cheese, Grandeho’s Kamekyo and EOS (where we celebrated our marriage).
• “Crap. We’re out of ____________.” That underscore typically revolves around the dire (toilet paper) to the annoying (Diet Coke). I can resolve most things that might live in that first sentence within five minutes (important when you’re bereft of tp).
• Egg. Everyone should live above a store where the buyers have exquisite taste. Then again, a little distance might be good for the wallet.
• Public transportation. With the N, 6, 37 and 43 steps away, driving is seldom necessary.

I’m sure that there are more things that I could add. Problem is, the cacophony of life in Cole Valley as itemized by Derek, has made it a little hard to think.
