It’s the places that aren’t typically in the guide books that I like visit when I travel. Myla (*the* Myla Kent who I finally had the pleasure of meeting after years of internet friendship) was totally game when I requested that our tour of Seattle include the Fremont Troll. When I mentioned that San Luis Obispo’s Gum Wall had long been on my wish list, she responded with “we’ve got a gum wall.” And with that, we were off.

We were married four years ago today atop a windy Tank Hill not far from our home. Life is always an adventure and I couldn’t imagine it without my husband at my side.

The wildfires and the 4th of July had precluded my participation in a Team in Training Coach’s Run before today. I’ve been hoofing it around the panhandle (3 – 4.5 miles) to try and get myself in some sort of shape.
Today’s run began at Town Park in Corte Madera and wound around the local bicycle paths. I ran to the first water station and back — just over 5 miles. I did quite well heading out, running with Kathleen who has a pace comparable to mine. She was running 6 miles and I was on my own on the way back and thusly, a little laggy.
The run was followed by a pot luck brunch with a spread unlike anything I’ve seen. Running and eating? I’ve found my people. Following the brunch, we heard from a few Patient Honorees, those who are being treated for or are a survivor of, leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. It was very inspiring.
My fundraising is going well. I’ve met my minimum and I’d like to thank the following family, friends and coworkers for supporting me:
Heather & Jon Armstrong, Brad Garlinghouse, Jenny and Jon Mette, Matthew Rothenberg, Myles Grant, Kevin-John Black & Diane Tani, George Oates, Zack Sheppard, Tom Burns, Douglas Alexander, Kakul Srivasta, Tim Murtaugh, Kirsten Wrinkle, Julie Jackson, Manny Ventura, tracy ducasse, Derek Powazek, lois powazek, John Styn, Peter Beck and Jacob Rome.

What happens when your friends from across the pond send you eight inflatable flotation rings? Mayhem.
