Heather Powazek Champ

O hai!

If you’ve made your way to my humble home page blog web site via Dooce, I congratulate you on your excellent taste. Isn’t Heather B. Armstrong the bees knees?

The question of the day: how does something as wonderful as the internet inspire so much hate?* Granted, it’s not something I, Heather Champ will resolve in one post, but it does make one wonder.

There must be some what to make something good out of all that angst…. right? Heather has — Monetize the shit out of it, baby.

* I wrote that with a straight face. Really.

fanfuckingtastic!!! (and great pic too).

Good call, er, suggestion to Dooce. What a sick site!

If I don’t like something, then in a nanosecond I’ve clicked on to something else to feed by ADD. What’s the pathology at work in someone who stops to compose a diatribe?

Posted by LeFiffre on 16 September 2009 @ 1pm

It’s been YEARS since I hung out over here at your site. I have no idea why, Heather led me to you in the first place but perhaps my life and propensity to breed let me stray off the path. But now I’m back – and I don’t even leave hate mail. So yeah, that might be a disappointment but I’m glad Heather reminded me all the same.

Posted by kim at allconsuming on 16 September 2009 @ 1pm

Best. Idea. Ever!

Posted by Kelsie on 16 September 2009 @ 1pm

Right on Heather, I did make my way here via Dooce, and commend you on your great idea on turning such laughable b.s. into a beneficial money-making venture!

Now maybe you could take a look at my visa bill (also b.s.) and help me turn that into something happy?

Posted by Steph@Cosmicnoodles on 16 September 2009 @ 1pm

I came over years ago, but I’m sure it was either through Dooce or Mightygirl. Your photos give me a window to peek into my favorite city that I left almost ten years ago. I really enjoy it.

About the new flavor on Dooce’s site: I also hope she gets to cash in on hanging out that dirty laundry. I know I’M curious to see what all’s been said. I’ll be clicking through (AND checking out those ads). Although…I’m a little concerned about the corrosion to my soul.

Posted by Megan on 16 September 2009 @ 2pm

your idea was brilliant, and i applaud heather for following through. and i agree, the internet is wonderful. i said it, i heart the internet.

Posted by marianne on 16 September 2009 @ 3pm

Echoing what people said above: been here before, Heather reminded Bossy of your site today. Been missing a lot of inspiration, it seems. Keep fighting the good fight.

Posted by BOSSY on 16 September 2009 @ 3pm

I plan on visiting that site as many times a day as I can! If you don’t like what a blogger is posting… here’s a tip… DON’T CONTINUE READING! DUH!

Posted by Kate on 16 September 2009 @ 5pm

What a great idea…all the haters really want is to be in print anyway – now they have their own corner of the universe!

Posted by lynn on 16 September 2009 @ 6pm

I absolutely love it – it is pure genious. Why didn’t I think of this idea? I think people that post these kinds of comments on people’s blogs are a waste of bandwidth personally.

Posted by Southern on 16 September 2009 @ 7pm

What a fantastic idea! Yes, I foound my way here via Dooce. I have been reading her for a year or so. I clicked through a few of the hate pages, these people are insane!

On the one hand, I think it was a great idea, on the other, I’m sorry she has so much hate mail to post. Where does that much hate come from? But I suppose that is the question of the day….

Posted by ken on 17 September 2009 @ 4am

Brilliant idea. And great photos here, too!

Posted by tiktok on 17 September 2009 @ 4am

I love her..they are idiots and your right…too much hate flying around! If you don’t like her stop reading her! DUH!

Posted by lolainaz on 17 September 2009 @ 8am

Here via Dooce :) Stellar idea! I like your photography as well.

Posted by Penelope on 17 September 2009 @ 8am

Love Dooce.

Posted by Jamie on 17 September 2009 @ 9am

I am a fan of Heather and Dooce. Some people are just asses and like to be shitheads to people that don’t need it…poor Heather but HELL YES for her making money off the assholes!! GO DOOCE!!!

Posted by Carrie on 17 September 2009 @ 9am

That’s positivity at work! Lovely way to execute and transform uselessness into a cash-generating practicality.

Posted by Torley on 17 September 2009 @ 10am

I love the idea…. and the ads for FIBER CAPSULES! Maybe if these people could just have a good poop more often, then they wouldn’t be so angry.

Posted by Amy on 17 September 2009 @ 10am

AWESOME idea!

that’s a smart canadian girl for y’all!

beautiful photos – consider yourself bookmarked.

Posted by Stacy on 17 September 2009 @ 1pm

thank you for such a grand idea! You are rockin’ good.

Posted by catherine on 17 September 2009 @ 6pm

I can’t believe how much hate mail dooce gets. She talked about it before being a lot but I had no idea just how much she meant!! I can’t stop reading all the hate but at the same time it’s making me sick. On another note I really enjoy your photography. Silly question but how do you get a Polaroid into digital form besides scanning it in? (but it looks too perfect to be scanned in?)

Posted by Sobrina on 17 September 2009 @ 10pm

Yup… came over from Dooce… nice to meet ya!

Posted by Deb on 18 September 2009 @ 3am

Your pictures are great. How I wish I lived in SF. But at least I can enjoy it vicariously!!

Posted by lorrie on 18 September 2009 @ 7pm

It’s like the hate is underpants, and you are the gnome who figured out Step 2!

Good work.

Sadly, (or maybe better for Heather’s wellbeing) the awfulness will be diluted by stunt hate, gearing for publication.

Posted by Erika on 19 September 2009 @ 6am

Genius idea, though I am so appalled to read what people write. I mean, I know the anonymity of the Internet breeds this kind of crap, but I usually just ignore it. Life’s too short to be that angry!

Posted by pdedwards on 19 September 2009 @ 10am

hi heather. the other heather has turned off comments at almost #2400 on the “hater” site. so, i’ve come here to be heard. BRILLIANT! i hope every nasty judgment results in $ CHING $ CHING $ CHING $ in the armstrong family bank. and it will. i’m so hopeful that heather will let us know how much she banks off that trash. it should push the haters right over the edge.

i didn’t read very far, but i went far enough to read the foul and offensive comments about Jon. what on earth could warrant saying such things about a person you’ve never met, and he isn’t doing the writing?

Posted by cindy on 19 September 2009 @ 7pm

omg… too funny. Can’t believe you are able to say it with a straight face… I can’t read it with one!!

Posted by Jessica on 19 September 2009 @ 8pm

I don’t get the hate mail thing but there’s plenty going on out there that baffles me. Wouldn’t it be easier for someone, if they hate the site so much, to just not click on it?
I’m glad I stumbled on your link through Dooce’s site. Love your photos! I’m sure I’ll be back.

Posted by Kim on 20 September 2009 @ 4am

I so love reading the hate mail. Not because of the content, but because HOW STUPID are these people? It is so bad, it’s good.

Fantastic idea.

Posted by Katie on 20 September 2009 @ 6am

The hate can kiss it, but I LOVE YOU!

I’m not crazy.

Amazing blog and photos. You are my new inspiration to stop talking about photography and “just do it!”

Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha

Posted by Stesha on 21 September 2009 @ 1am

HA! You know it is just eating them alive that she came up with a clever way to throw their shizzle back in their faces – brilliant!

Posted by jen on 21 September 2009 @ 2pm

I think the website you all dreamed up is AWESOME! But, I do find it disturbing that dooce fans are now bent out of shape discussing what she should do with the money generated from the hate mail. She should do whatever she wants with her money!

Posted by Diane on 21 September 2009 @ 9pm

I thought that ‘monetizing the hate’ was a brilliant idea – and I’m glad Heather linked to you, because I really like your blog!

Posted by Snotty McSnotterson on 24 September 2009 @ 10am

yeah made my way here from Dooce’s site and will look around and see whats up. =)

Apparently internet = hate…b/c reading thru some of the entries she has posted there I wonder if Heather and her nice normal readers are the only normal people in this world that can read or not read a blog entry then move on with their lives. Others are so hateful and obviously have issues they need to address on an inward basis before making an idiot out of themselves by commenting on the internet.

Posted by steph TN on 28 September 2009 @ 9am

I came by the way of Dooce which I am now addicted to even though I am old, and I cheer Heather on for making money. As for anyone who doesn’t like what they read on the internet? They clicked to get there so they can click to get off can’t they?
Your site is great BTW.

Posted by TC on 30 September 2009 @ 9am

You are a genius! The Hate page is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in awhile. It is also depressingly scary and sad that people get that worked up and think it’s O.K. to behave like that.

Also, that picture of the water and the tree snag at the marine reserve literally took my breath away. thanks!

Best Idea Ever.
You win.

Posted by Tina on 13 October 2009 @ 9am

I didn’t find your page through Dooce, I found it through your husband’s explanation of why he made that specific page skin! (How cool is that? Yes.) I have been to Dooce’s site though, and I concur on her awesomeness. I went to the Hate Page and it was appalling how many people sent her such vile things. Sad that some people just can’t be happy for others.
